I regularly add the foil packs of vitamins/electrolytes like Emergen C to water for usage during sports activities. I was wondering how much aluminum is absorbed by the powder when it's packed in the small foil packages that are torn open to dispense the powder? On the same note, how much aluminum is absorbed by soft drinks and beer packaged in aluminum cans? I'm trying to detox from heavy metals and thought that avoiding products packaged in aluminum is a good way to reduce intake. How much aluminum is absorbed by vitamin powder/electroltyes packages in foil packs?
The foil pouches are plastic with foil lining. There's probably no direct contact with the drink. As opposed to Aluminum cans, which in constant contact with the drink.
It's hard to say how much aluminum is absorbed into the drink. Aluminum reacts with the oxygen in the air and forms a tough layer of Aluminum Oxide.
Also, according to the Alcoa website, the cans are coated to keep the drink from reacting with the can.
