Powder coating vs Paint of an high performance engine?

I am worried about heat. If I powder coat my motor will it retain more heat?, what about duribility? Will it peal or crack near the high heat areas like exhaust ports?Powder coating vs Paint of an high performance engine?
There are two kinds of different powder coating materials, thermoplastic(nylon, polyester) and thermoset(epoxy). Thermoplastics will remelt and flow at less than 500 degrees F and will also be affected by engine fluids. Thermosetting coatings crosslink meaning that they are unaffected by most solvents as well as being heat stable after the initial curing process. I think that if you are coating cast parts than you shouldn't have any problems with cracking but aluminium may expand and contract too much during heat cycles and cause cracking in a thermoset product.

As for paint, any catalyzed single stage product should do fine and you've got a ton of color choices as well as the option of matching to the exterior color.Powder coating vs Paint of an high performance engine?

i haven't used it on any engine yet but i have the frame of my old truck done in it and it does really good, its a lot harder than normal paint is and they say to use it on engines that it will stay on longer,i have yet to try this though ,we just now got the frame and chassis done and so far i like the results of it,I'm thinking about dong the engine ,they make a little different paint for the engine parts and it supposed to be better ,the kind i am going to try says it guaranteed to be a tougher paint and will out last normal engine paint,a friend of mine did it on his Chevy and it looks real good and hasn't cracker or peeled off yet it feels like its part of the metal on his, good luck with it.
Normally automotive paint will sustain the heat or an engine. Although headers and exhaust manifolds dont do so well. the best thing for exhaust is called ';jet-hot coating'; it isnt always pretty but it works. also ceramic coating on exhaust. I work in a bodyshop and we have painted several engine blocks and some entire engines with the same paint we use on the exterior of automobiles with no problems at all.
Flat black powder-coat or engine enamel displaces heat the best. Lighter colors seal heat in.
powder coating is the best way to go, it releases the heat, that way your motor will last longer.
