Aluminum dust/powdered aluminium?

I need to use aluminium dust for some painting.

However it is very expensive product, far to expensive for me to purchase. However could I purchase aluminium foil, and using a sander grind the foil into dust?

Or can anyone else suggest a good way of producing aluminium dust?Aluminum dust/powdered aluminium?
they first response is correct. hoverer you can get aluminium paint and in spray cans have you considered that?

does it have to be 'dust'?Aluminum dust/powdered aluminium?
No, you cant use a grinder. Firstly it will become clogged very quickly and secondly it wont produce fine enough particles anyway. The reason its so expensive is because it has to be made chemically. I'm not sure of the exact chemicals they use but they basically have to be mixed together in an aqueous solution and they react to form aluminum which precipitates out of the solution. So the particles are practically atom sized, they can't be made from a solid block.

Aluminum dust is in all metallic paint churie.
The only reason I can think of for wanting aluminium dust is the production of thermite. How is aluminium dust used for painting?
Dear Aluminium grinding is very dangerouse and can be a source of fire, However cheeper chinese and indian sources are available for paint use.
Try Schmincke Tro-col powdered gouache, not too expensive (my last was around 拢4 a jar) it's a fake silver, made I suspect from aluminium. It can be sprinkled onto other wet paint, or mixed to produce a paint itself.
