Powder coating on a motorcycle look as good as a paint job?

If I get my motorcycle powder coated will it look as good as a paint job? and will it last as long? also, will it need a clear coat then too?Powder coating on a motorcycle look as good as a paint job?
As buster said this is really meant for frames and wheels. There is a down side. If you suffer a chip or scratch it is darn near impossible to repair as the coating is very very hard and will not sand down like a paint finish. Nor can you spot repair like painted finishes. Durable but difficult to touch up.Powder coating on a motorcycle look as good as a paint job?
The most important thing to consider with powder coating is make sure you are positive about the choice of colours. Removing powder coatings is very difficult, trust me i've tried. Wheels and frame parts including brackets are the parts to consider for this process. If you go with powder coating I would suggest getting a high gloss clear coat on top of the powder coat. Its hard strong and durable. If you are stripping the paint off your self or having it media blasted(prefered) after the parts are paint free go over all of them with a soft stainless wire wheel, surface prep is paramount to a nice finished product. good luck with that
I think powder coat looks good. I have had it done to exhaust and It looked awesome. It is definitely stronger than paint. The number one reason I did it. It is hard to chip. I have heard of guys doing tanks have not seen it. The down side is it is thicker than paint. Adds what looks like 1/8 inch of material
Powder coating is usually applied to parts like frames and wheels, where a durable finish is desired. You will get a higher gloss with paint, which is why body parts are usually painted.
powdercoating is a paint baked on therefore being harder %26amp; longer lasting.
powder coat looks just as goos and soetimes better than paint!
